A discipline is an area of training in which a particular systematic method is taught within a set of rules with the intention of specialisation in subjects that are specific to that discipline. For instance, the observation, identification, description, experimental investigation, and theoretical explanation of phenomena such as quantum physics to the scientist or the investigation of the nature, causes, or principles of reality, knowledge, or values, based on logical reasoning rather than empirical methods, in philosophy.

Spacexcape Bridges is a project currently being developed through such a collaboration in Second Life and calls for scientists, philosophers, script writers and Second Life builders to work with the growing team. The project will investigate the interdisciplinary potential of bringing together thoughts and processes creating a new and very different space.
